This follows up my previous post on what to take to your college dorm. The last post was more about communicating with your roommates and deciding what big items you will take with you. Also it talked about checking with your housing website to see what you are and aren’t allowed to bring with you.
Now that you have done your research about what you will be taking with you, it’s time for the fun part! Kinda, because you also have to keep in mind that you are most likely on a budget.
I know that Target’s college dorm shopping list looks appealing and you want to buy everything on it, but don’t! You don’t necessarily need a TV, unless you can’t live without Pretty Little Liars or some other TV series (you know who you are). Plus, your roommate my bring hers/his. Your dorm already has a bed so you don’t need a futon. And, remember that you don’t have room to be buying a extra chairs because you have to share your space!
So, before you head off to your nearest Target, Walmart, or Bed, Bath, and Beyond, check what you already have in your house. This will save you lots of money. For example, I took with me some plastic food containers which my mom already had. Or, towels, a blanket, you most likely own these items so there is no need to buy new ones.
Anyways, remember stick to you budget and have fun! Here is a list of items that I took to college and here is another very useful and popular one on the ‘net.
Do you having any tips?
